Unrest has been going on in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo for several years. People live in refugee camps or temporary shelters, and children do not attend school for several years. Now it seems that the situation is calming down, so there could be an opportunity for change. The aim of the work is to design a school for Buleosa village in a cooperation with the local ranger Alain Hamisi Mitondo, with whom I have been communicated during the course. The school project is supported by Buleosa‘s management and locals. Everyone in the community should be involved in the construction, because above all they should benefit from the school. I know that it is not possible to build a European-type building here, but rather to combine knowledge of these two worlds with the use of local materials. The simplicity of such a project is fundamental, because it will involve more different people, even without the slightest experience.

Everyday furniture for developing countries is the topic that this diploma thesis deals with. The aim was to obtain input information, create a theoretical project and then verify it directly in practice in a developing country – Zambia. The project focuses on the use of wooden waste material and at the same time takes into account local conditions. The result of the work is research that collects basic data about joinery, schools, furniture and culture in Zambia. This theoretical project has been tested in practice on a small scale. At the same time, six prototypes of furniture were made from waste material and a development project on the subject was written.

The Motivation of volunteers to work in developing countries

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of motivation to volunteer in developing countries. The aim of the diploma thesis was to analyze the concept of volunteering in developing countries, with regard to the motivation of people who choose to volunteer in a developing country. The theoretical part characterizes the main concepts and topics such as volunteering, including its legislative definition, developing countries, motivation to volunteer. The practical part describes the research, which aimed to analyze the motivation of volunteers working in developing countries. The research sample consisted of 75 volunteers who were given a questionnaire of Author's own design. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with two other volunteers. Volunteers were found to be motivated to help, as well as motivation associated with personal gain. The motivation of volunteers was formed due to the experience with the effectiveness of aid in volunteering. Weaknesses were identified, in particular regarding the preparation of volunteers before leaving for a developing country. Part of the work is a recommendation for sending organizations, as well as for the volunteers themselves. Causes of Significant Income Inequalities in Nicaragua and Possible Solutions

The thesis examines the causes of significant income inequalities in Nicaragua and potential measures that could be taken to reduce them. The causes were found in the existence of extractive institutions based on nepotism, which led to the economic independence of broad mass of the population being suppressed in the long-term. Since there were found relatively sharp differences between urban and rural areas among the particular causes, it was suggested to transfer part of investments, in terms of economic policies, into the subsistence, mainly the agricultural sector. Further, were the measures related to broader access to education, health services and also to institutional changes in the long run.

Success of development aid? Case study Somalia from 1991

Thesis "Success" of Development Aid? The Case Study of Somalia 1991 to Present deals in its first part with the Somali Republic itself, introduces the main characteristics of this, almost not functioning, nevertheless de iure still existing country in Sub-Saharan Africa. It briefly outlines the important events of last decades and highlights some of the main past and current issues that make the situation in the state catastrophic. In its second part the thesis aims to cope with some of the most important problems of Somali Republic. Then it shortly describes which actors are the most involved in the development efforts in Somalia and which development plans and programmes are essential for this country. The thesis also outlines the main ideas of several development plans. In the last part it analyzes the success of development efforts in domains of Security, Governance and Internally Displaced Persons. The progress in Millennium Development Goals is evaluated as well.

Analysis of Basic Mechanization Means for East African Countries

The goal of this thesis is to create a survey of the most widely used means of mechanization for plant and livestock production with use of the available sources in the East Africa countries. It would be a survey of agricultural machinery and implements used for tillage, sowing and planting, plant protection, harvesting machines and post harvest technology. There would be a necessary mechanization and technology for livestock production. The basic division of this study would be on hand tools, animal drawn implements and tractor implements. Part of analysis would be a review of equipment and tools development from the past to the present.

Volatilita migrací a remitencí mezi Vietnamem a Českou republikou

The thesis is concerned with the volatility of migration from Vietnam to The Czech Republic and remittances sent back to Vietnam from the Czech Republic. The theoretical part describes the history of the Vietnam nation up today and the steps of cooperation with Czech Republic. It also covers the theories of migration and ways of international funding of developing countries. Methodology is leaning on empirical research through analysis and qualitative and quantitative approaches. Final chapters demonstrate the importance of remittances for Vietnam and behavior of Vietnamese immigrants living in the Czech Republic regarding the remittances they sent back to their country of origin.

The Accounting System and the Tax System in South Africa

The aim of this diploma thesis is to describe the fundamental characteristics of the accounting system and the tax system which is set in South Africa, and to compare these facts with the rules applicable in the Czech Republic. The first chapter briefly presents South Africa through selected economic indicators. The second chapter focuses on the accounting system in South Africa. The attention is paid to the Companies Act and to International Financial Reporting Standards. The requirements for the accounting and auditing profession are also mentioned. The third chapter provides basic information about the tax system in South Africa. In the introduction of this chapter there is the general characteristics of the tax system, then the different types of taxes are introduced. The final chapter compares the findings with the accounting system and tax system of the Czech Republic.

The development of India and its postition in the regional and world economy

The thesis is dedicated to the position of India in the regional and world economy and to its future expectations. The fist chapter characterises India from the historical, geografical, demografical and political point of view. The second chapter is dedicated to the economic characteristics of India; to its structure as well as to its basic macroeconomic indicators. The last chapter summarises India's positive and negative features and points out future development of India, which is resulting from the predictions of IMF and World Bank and the evaluation of the previous analysis.
